City: Merida

Chichen Itzá, one of the 7 Wonders of the world. The ancient Maya capital was home to the greatest astronomers, mathematicians, and architects of the Maya during the classic period (AD 600-1250). 202 kms. South of Cancun. Its stunning buildings, which remain standing today, offer a breathtaking sight. The 75 ft. high Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Ball Court, where the game of life and death was played for hundreds of years. A Jade Jaguar proudly resides inside the pyramid; and the Palace of the Columns, the Caracol Observatory and the Temple of the Warriors are proof of a once flourishing civilization. And of course, there is the mysterious Cenote Sagrado or the “Well of the Sacrifices”, where human sacrifices were offered to Chaac, the Maya rain god.

From Cancun you will drive to Chichen Itza where an experienced guide will take you through the spectacular ruins. Afterwards, you will be transferred for lunch to Selva Maya at Valladolid, an enchanting colonial town. Here there is an amazing cenote with crystal water who will refresh those who decide to swim!
